Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks (knee) has taken a bit longer than expected by fantasy managers to return to practice. Luckily, he's now back on the field at the Panthers' facilities, running through drills with his teammates. It's refreshing to see him in the next step of working his way back.
He suffered a torn ACL in November 2023 in college, yet was drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, showing the faith at least one NFL scouting team had in his abilities. He was placed on PUP before the season started.
So will Jonathon Brooks play in Week 7?

Is Jonathon Brooks Playing in Week 7?
It's most likely not happening. His practice window was opened earlier this week, and given that allows teams 21 days to elevate their players to the active roster, it's likely the Panthers will wait at least one more week. The most realistic debut for the rookie appears to be in Week 9.
Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks Injury Update 🤕
Absolutely expected & should not cause panic
This is a normal part of a ramp up process, he’s still just 11 months out from an ACL tear & a rookie who got zero training camp
We have to temper expectations for Brooks this season… https://t.co/sBlvOHGFc0

He didn't practice on Thursday, but that's no cause for alarm. There haven't been any reports of setbacks in his injury. He's just being load-managed, which is normal.
Jonathon Brooks Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook
For at least the first few games he's back, he will likely have his activity slowly ramped up. That won't start in Week 7 in all likelihood, so he should remain in IR slots or on benches on fantasy teams. And when he does return, he may not be the best start for his first week or two of NFL game action.

Some good things take time. It may be until Week 11 or 12 that we can expect to see Brooks handle a significant amount of touches. The good thing, at least for his fantasy outlook, is that the Panthers have a horrible defense and he'll be the clear pass-catching running back for the team. We could see a lot of Brooks before the season ends.
