As we head into Week 12 of the NFL season, there are a number of injury situations worth monitoring. The Cincinnati Bengals backfield is dealing with some uncertainty ahead of a Sunday matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Starting Bengals RB Joe Mixon was forced to leave Week 11's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with a head injury that was later ruled a concussion. Samaje Perine scored three TDs in relief of Mixon last week and would inherit the lead RB role against the Tennessee Titans if Mixon is unable to go in Week 12.
Is Joe Mixon out for Week 12? Should I pick up and start Samaje Perine in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans? Below we take a quick look at the updated injury status for Mixon and attempt to answer these questions.

Is Joe Mixon Playing In Week 12?
Cincinnati's star running back Joe Mixon was knocked out of a Week 11 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with a head injury that was eventually determined to be a concussion. Mixon immediately entered the NFL's concussion protocol.
The former Oklahoma Sooner has failed to log a practice this week while in protocol and has officially been ruled out for Week 12's game against the Tennessee Titans due to a concussion.
Should I Pick Up And Start Samaje Perine In Week 12?
Playing due to Mixon's absence, Samaje Perine posted a shockingly-good fantasy outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11, logging 82 total yards and three TDs in the Bengals' 37-30 victory.
The career backup logged just 2.7 yards per carry against the Steelers in relief of Mixon, but the 27-year-old has proven himself to be a serviceable pass catcher and utility back throughout his NFL career.
With Mixon now officially ruled out for Week 12, Perine will inherit a near-every-down role in the Cincy backfield.
While Perine is an automatic pick-up in all fantasy leagues, fantasy GMs should manage their expectations due to a brutal matchup against a stout Tennessee run defense. The Titans are ranked first in the NFL in Rush Defense DVOA and have held opposing RBs to the second-fewest rushing yards in the league this year. Perine should be considered an RB2 who will have a great role in a tough matchup.
