Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo looks to have found a new home at the start of free agency and he is back on the fantasy football radar.
Garoppolo has been a part of a handful of deep postseason runs, but the general perception of him is that he can't elevate a team to a Super Bowl title. However, he's generally viewed as a top-20 quarterback in the NFL and is an underrated fantasy football asset.
Did the Raiders sign Garoppolo and is he a good fit with the silver and black? Let's dive in.

Did The Raiders Sign Jimmy Garoppolo?
Garoppolo is set to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders on a three-year, $67.5 million deal. Las Vegas released Derek Carr this offseason and were rumored to be interested in reuniting former Patriots offensive coordinator and current Raiders' head coach Josh McDaniels with Garoppolo for 2023.
Jimmy G worked with McDaniels as Tom Brady's backup from 2014-2017 before he was traded to the 49ers. Garoppolo posted 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 10 games before suffering a season-ending foot injury in Week 13. With Trey Lance and Brock Purdy on the roster, he had no place in the Niners' QB depth chart.
He'll now get a fresh start but will join a loaded AFC West with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.
Is Garoppolo a Good Fit for Las Vegas?
Garoppolo has been criticized for being a "game manager" throughout his career in San Francisco, but he's undoubtedly been a solid facilitator and is a capable starter in the league. He threw to a stud group of pass-catchers in Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle for a chunk of his time with the Niners and he'll now have Davante Adams, Darren Waller, Josh Jacobs, Hunter Renfrow, and the newly acquired Jakobi Meyers at his disposable in Las Vegas.
Needless to say, he'll continue to have an above-average group of receivers, so we can view Garoppolo as a mid-tier QB2 for 2023 fantasy football. He may not throw for nuclear passing numbers or touchdowns, but he'll be accurate and deliver the ball to a solid cast of characters in his first season with the team.
