Will Jimmy Garoppolo Be Ready For The Season Opener?
This past offseason, the Raiders decided it was time for a major change. They let go of long-time QB Derek Carr and signed free agent Garoppolo to a three-year contract, making him the leader of the team's new offense.
The problem is that Jimmy G. can't seem to stay on the field. This has been a recurring issue for him for years, but fans of the team and fantasy owners alike are keeping their fingers crossed he can stay healthy in 2023.
The 31-year-old underwent foot surgery after signing with Vegas in March, per multiple reports. The oft-injured quarterback isn't on the field for OTAs and his timeline for recovery isn't known. The good news is the organization is confident he will be ready for the start of the upcoming season.
Should I Draft Jimmy Garoppolo in 2023 Fantasy Football?
Are you a risk taker or do you enjoy gambling? If so, then draft Jimmy G. as he will be in a high-powered new-look offense in Vegas. However, if you do pull the trigger, make sure you have a solid backup plan in place.
A Lengthy Injury History For Jimmy Garoppolo
In just 11 games played in 2022, Garoppolo threw for 2,437 yards and 16 touchdowns before going down with another injury. His former team, San Francisco, decided enough was enough and they moved on. Now, the QB has a new home in Nevada but is dealing with the same old concerns.
The positive news is that he is a smart football player with a ton of proven talent. The negative is that he is missing yet another large portion of an important offseason, and this time it's with a brand new team. If you're looking to draft or keep Garoppolo for 2023, buy some insurance because this car tends to break down more often than not.
