The Miami Dolphins have been dominating on offense this season and are on pace to possibly break some records with how often they are putting points on the board.
The Fins are the No. 1 highest-scoring offense, and that has led to them having multiple players make the top ten scoring lists for fantasy football. In fact, they have two running backs amongst the top six at the position. They move the ball so easily that even if their players have to share volume, they still put up huge numbers.
Now another running back is entering the fold. Jeff Wilson Jr. is likely to be activated from the IR before Week 7.

What Did Jeff Wilson Jr. Do Last Season?
Jeff Wilson Jr. hasn't played yet this season, as he has been on the injured reserve with rib and finger injuries, but he had a relatively productive 2023. Wilson was traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Miami Dolphins midway through the season.
With eight games on both teams, he gained 860 yards on 176 carries. It was his best season in terms of carries, yards, yards per game, yards per attempt, receptions, and receiving yards.
While he played for the 49ers in the first half of the season, he started six games after Elijah Mitchell got injured and before the Niners traded for Christian McCaffrey. On the Dolphins, he only started one game because the Fins already had Raheem Mostert, who was the primary starter, as well as Chase Edmonds and Myles Gaskin.
While Edmonds and Gaskin are no longer with the Dolphins, the team still has Mostert and has added DeVon Achane in the 2023 draft. Achane was put on the IR last week, so Achane will be out for at least the next three weeks, making Wilson Miami's RB2 for now.
Wilson, Mostert, and Achane are different types of running backs. Wilson is five pounds heavier than Mostert and about 20 pounds heavier than Achane. He is more likely to be used in short-yardage and goalline situations. Last season, Wilson had twice as many carries inside the ten as Mostert despite having fewer total carries.
Is Jeff Wilson Jr. A Good Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup In Week 7?
Jeff Wilson Jr. is a good waiver wire add for Week 7. According to RotoBaller's professional analysis, he is the No. 8 priority to add at the running back position.
Rank | Player Name | Pos. | % Ros. | Baller Move |
6 | Chuba Hubbard | RB | 59 | Add in 12+ Team Leagues |
7 | Jaylen Warren | RB | 59 | Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues |
8 | Jeff Wilson Jr. | RB | 52 | Add in 12+ Team Leagues |
The reason is simple: Wilson has a huge opportunity to gain yards and score touchdowns on the unstoppable Dolphins offense. Miami is averaging 4.3 red zone attempts per game. If he is used as he was last year, he'll get touches near the goal line.
The Dolphins have already shown they can support two top-ten running backs. Wilson is not quite as athletically gifted as Mostert and Achane. He's more of a bruiser, while the other two are track starts. But that could end up helping him: there's less competition for Wilson's specific role.
It is most likely that Wilson will be the RB2 for the next three weeks, as Achane misses time. What happens when Achane returns is less predictable. Will the Fins backfield become a three-headed monster? Will Wilson maintain a role as the short-yardage back? We will have to wait and see.
