Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren was a popular handcuff in fantasy drafts this season.
The second-year man from Oklahoma State was expected by some to overtake Najee Harris as Pittsburgh's RB1. In his rookie season, he averaged 4.9 yards per carry, and some thought he looked like a better runner than Harris.
Those predictions are starting to manifest. In a couple of the Steelers' games, Warren has had more touches than Harris. Should you add Warren to your fantasy team?

What Did Jaylen Warren Do In Week 6?
Jaylen Warren was on bye in Week 6, but in previous weeks, he has started to make an impact. In Week 5, Warren carried the ball nine times for 40 yards. Those nine carries were just five fewer than Najee Harris. Even better for Warren fans, he was targeted three times and caught all three passes for 39 yards. He was the leading receiver of all Steelers RBs.
The previous week against Houston, Warren led all Pittsburgh players in receiving. He caught six passes for 26 yards against the Texans. His receiving production boosts Warren in PPR.
From Week 3 through Week 5, Warren ranks as the RB24 in PPR. If he can keep up that production after the bye week, Warren will be a low-end RB2 and a high-end RB3/flex.
Is Jaylen Warren A Good Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup In Week 7?
Although Jaylen Warren is getting more carries and targets this season, his efficiency is down. Gone are the days when he was averaging almost five yards a pop. This season, he is only averaging 3.6 yards per carry and has only converted successful plays 44.1% of the time.
If you are banking on Warren to be a bell-cow who runs the ball 20 times a game and passes the century mark, it's not going to be. The Steelers will not completely phase out Najee Harris, and Warren might remain the RB1b for the rest of the season. The whole Steelers' offense is lethargic, and any running back would be limited on the team.
Rank | Player Name | Pos. | % Ros. | Baller Move |
6 | Chuba Hubbard | RB | 59 | Add in 12+ Team Leagues |
7 | Jaylen Warren | RB | 59 | Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues |
8 | Jeff Wilson Jr. | RB | 52 | Add in 12+ Team Leagues |
Warren won't have many touchdown opportunities because the Steelers rank as the third-worst team in scoring and in total offense. In a 12-team league, Warren's production thus far would qualify him in approximately the second or third tier of flex options.
For a league with two starting running backs, three starting wide receivers and a couple of flex spots, Warren would be a viable starting option. He's the No. 4 RB to prioritize for Week 7 waiver wire adds.
