The Denver Broncos have one of the deepest backfields in the NFL. While they lack a superstar talent, the Broncos have four impactful running backs on the roster.

Denver signed Samaje Perine in free agency last offseason. They also found a steal in Jaleel McLaughlin as an undrafted free agent in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, neither running back will be the lead guy for the Broncos this upcoming season.

That means Javonte Williams or Audric Estime will be Denver's No. 1 running back. However, which young running back will be the lead guy?

Javonte Williams 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy players had high hopes for Williams in 2023. The former North Carolina star was coming off a torn ACL that he suffered early in the season before. Yet, he still had a solid year, totaling 217 rushing attempts for 774 yards and three touchdowns. Williams also had a career-high 47 receptions on 58 targets for 228 receiving yards and two touchdowns last season. He ended the year as the RB30, averaging 9.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

Audric Estime 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Estime had a productive college career, totaling 2,321 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns in three years at Notre Dame. Last season, he was one of the top running backs in college football, with 210 rushing attempts for 1,341 yards and 18 touchdowns. The Notre Dame star had the third-most rushing touchdowns in the country in 2023. While he was a fifth-round pick, the team’s coaching staff has high hopes for Estime.

Is Javonte Williams Or Audric Estime The RB1 For The Broncos?

Hopefully, the Broncos make a trade before the start of the regular season. Denver has four impactful running backs, which creates problems for fantasy players. Ideally, the team trades Williams to the Dallas Cowboys, making Estime the lead guy.

However, that likely won’t happen, meaning fantasy players will have a decision to make. Williams is the more talented running back but hasn’t looked the same since tearing his ACL. Hopefully, he is 100% nearly two years since the injury. While the backfield could be a headache for fantasy players, Williams is the lead back heading into training camp.
