Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was a highly touted draft prospect the Lions took No. 12 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, Williams missed the start of his rookie season as he was recovering from an ACL injury he had suffered in college. Even when he did start playing, he didn't get off to a fast start. He only ended up with one catch for 41 yards and one rushing carry for 40 yards. Then he was suspended this offseason when he was one of many players caught violating the league's betting policy.
Williams will be back on the field soon. Should you pick him up and add him to your fantasy team?

When Does Jameson Williams' Suspension End?
Jameson Williams was originally suspended for six games. That would have allowed him to return to the Lions in Week 7. However, there have been negotiations between the Players Union and the NFL. The result was a new agreement that set out specific penalties for various gambling violations.
The new penalty for placing bets on sports other than football at a team facility is a two-game suspension for the first violation. Only the second violation will carry a six-game suspension. Williams was suspended for betting on non-football games. Since he has already served four weeks of his suspension, he has been allowed to return to the team on Monday. That means that Williams will be eligible to play in Week 5.
What Is Jameson Williams' Fantasy Football Outlook?
Based on Jameson Williams' apparent talent he displayed in college, he would project to be the Lions' WR2. But after a poor showing his rookie year and the drama he caused with his gambling violations, he hasn't helped his reputation in view of coaches. He is currently listed as the WR3 on ESPN's depth chart. That may change when he is back at practice.
Williams is a speedy deep threat. He showed it in his junior year at Alabama when he gained 1,572 yards on 79 passes and scored 15 touchdowns. He transferred to Alabama after having a limited role at Ohio State. In his two seasons as a Buckeye, Williams only caught 15 passes for 266 yards.
His value in dynasty fantasy football has been declining ever since last December when he hit a peak of WR14 in Keep Trade Cut's rankings. Now he is valued as the WR39.
Should I Pick Up Jameson Williams?
Jameson Williams is a low floor receiver with a high ceiling. He is extremely athletic. The year he entered the draft, he scored 90/100 on his Next Gen Stats NFL.com scouting profile, which was the highest score of any receiver in the draft.
He didn't run the 40-yard dash because of his ACL injury, but he said, “I would have run the fastest 40.” That kind of attitude illustrates the competitiveness you might like to see from your WRs in fantasy football, but it also could be seen as the kind of arrogance that would lead to one thinking they could get away with gambling at a team facility.
Williams did reach 23 miles per hour on a 94-yard touchdown catch his senior year, according to the GPS tracking technology. If true, that is faster than the fastest Miami Dolphin so far this season. According to Yahoo transaction trends, Williams is available in 70% of fantasy leagues.
