Is James Conner Playing in Week 10?
The Arizona Cardinals designated James Conner to return this week, opening up a window in which he could return to the team from the IR. It appears that he'll be playing again at the earliest possible time as Conner is on track to play in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.
The veteran running back last played on Oct. 8 against the Bengals, carrying the ball six times for 46 yards before going down with the injury.
James Conner averaged 79.5 rushing yards per game over the four full games that he played this season. Adding in his six carries in the game against Cincinnati where he was injured, Conner has 68 carries for 364 yards and two touchdowns this season. He's averaging 5.4 yards per carry, a career-best mark.
James Conner Fantasy Football Injury Outlook
One thing that helps James Conner this week is that the player who replaced him won't be on the field. The Arizona Cardinals have ruled running back Emari Demercado out for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons with the same toe injury that kept him out last week. With Demercado out, the run game was non-existent, with Keaontay Ingram carrying the ball nine times for eight yards, Rondale Moore four times for three yards, and Tony Jones three times for two yards.
Demercado should have a role once he's healthy, but for Week 10, Conner should have full control of this backfield. He might not be the most exciting fantasy option in the world, but his projected volume makes him a high-end RB2 option right off the bat.
