New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams rushed for over 1,000 rushing yards and scored 17 touchdowns last year with the Detroit Lions. After the strong season, he signed with the Saints and had plenty of fantasy football intrigue heading into 2023.
However, he played just one full game before being placed on Injured Reserve. He could return this week for Thursday Football, and we have his latest update.
Will Williams play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7? Should you start him in fantasy lineups? Let's dive in.

Is Jamaal Williams Playing In Week 7 Against the Jaguars?
Williams (hamstring) is expected to be activated off of injured reserve in time to suit up for Thursday Night Football against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The veteran has spent the last four games on the shelf with the hamstring issue, but he is ready to return after three straight limited practices this week. It will be his first game since he suffered the injury in the win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.
Should I Start Jamaal Williams In Week 7?
While Williams is likely to get some touches assuming he's officially active, Alvin Kamara has operated as the workhorse running back since returning in Week 4. Kamara has 75 touches in just three games since his return from suspension.
Since Williams is coming off of an injury, there's a real chance he sees fewer than five total touches on Thursday night. He might make for an interesting single-game DFS option in case he scores a touchdown, but he should likely remain on the bench in traditional leagues.
With rookie Kendre Miller also on the roster, Williams might not have a path to fantasy upside for the rest of the season. This is a situation worth monitoring, and Williams can still be stashed as a handcuff running back.
