The Las Vegas Raiders have been a very active team in free agency this year. They already signed former Patriots and 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, and they are trading tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants.
Now, the addition of Jakobi Meyers gives Garoppolo another receiver to throw to alongside Davante Adams. Meyers, who gained 804 yards and scored a career-high six touchdowns last season with the Patriots, was viewed by many as the best receiver on the market this offseason.
The 26-year-old will no longer be the No. 1 wide receiver on his team, but can he help elevate Jimmy Garoppolo and add value to himself as a WR2?

How Much Money Did The Raiders Sign Jakobi Meyers For?
Meyers signed a three-year deal for $33 million. $21 million is guaranteed. Only $1.83 million is guaranteed in the second year, so the Raiders could save up to $11 million in cap space by cutting him after June 1, 2024 (or $9.17 million in savings before June).
Meyers' $11 million-per-year contract makes him the 29th-highest-paid receiver in the league, tied with Allen Lazard, who just signed with the New York Jets. In a weak WR class, their contracts are the two most valuable to have been signed yet. (Odell Beckham Jr. is reportedly asking for $20 million per year, but it might be hard for him to find a taker.)
Meyers' new teammate Davante Adams has the biggest contract of all wide receivers by total value and the second-largest by AAV.
Is Jakobi Meyers a Good Fit for Las Vegas?
There's nothing glamorous about Jakobi Meyers, who joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of NC State in 2019.
He has been a solid possession in the slot. When Meyers was targeted on third downs last season, the Patriots converted 52.9% of the time. His 18 conversions on third downs tied for ninth in the NFL.
Meyers has run over 60% of his routes from the slot in each of his past three seasons. The Raiders still have Hunter Renfrow, who ran 86.0% of his routes out of the slot. But Renfrow was injured for much of last season and was underwhelming when healthy. With Meyers supplanting Renfrow, speculation is that Renfrow could be dealt.
Meyers is an improvement over Renfrow in the slot. The Raiders also signed veteran receiver Phillip Dorsett, who like Meyers, also spent some time in New England (though neither of their tenures overlapped with Garoppolo's). Dorsett ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, so he should help Jimmy G. open up the field and gain valuable yards after the catch.
