Is Jacob deGrom Healthy Or Injured? Fantasy Baseball Injury Update

Is Jacob deGrom Healthy Or Injured? Sam takes a look at the reports on the Texas Rangers' starting pitcher, to determine if this newest injury is one of minor or major concern for fantasy owners.

When you think of Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom, usually two things come to mind. Devastatingly nasty stuff and an awfully bad injury history.

He is unquestionably one of the most talented arms in all of Major League Baseball. However, over the years, he had gotten hurt time and time again. In the first month of 2023, once again, he finds himself dealing with an injury.

Is deGrom seriously hurt? Will he be sidelined for a significant period of time? Let's take a look at the latest reports and find an answer.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Injury Update

In the early going of the 2023 season, deGrom has been extremely solid. He has compiled a 3.48 ERA and a low 0.87 WHIP while securing one win with 32 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings. On Monday night, however, he was removed from his start in Kansas City after four no-hit innings due to soreness in his right wrist.

He told reporters after the game that he felt the issue early in the start and that it got worse as the game went on. The 34-year-old veteran felt the need to call the trainers and pull himself from the contest as a precautionary move, and attempt to not make the injury worse.

Here we are again, with the tall 6' 4" inch right-hander being looked at by the medical staff. This is something that is all but too familiar to him, baseball fans, and fantasy baseball managers.

When Will Jacob deGrom Pitch?

When it comes to another deGrom health situation, this time, it doesn't appear to be all bad news. On Tuesday the pitcher told reporters he fully expects to make his next scheduled start against Oakland later this week.

Whether that happens or not is still yet to be seen. However, this can only be interpreted as good news for fantasy owners wondering if he will be available in the immediate future.

He dealt with side tightness in spring training back in March, and now he has wrist soreness, adding to the long list of maladies that have plagued the uber-talented flamethrower throughout his career. There is no doubt deGrom has been injury prone throughout his career, we just have to hold our collective breaths and hope this latest bump in the road is a minor setback and not a long-term concern.
