Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins was the 55th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Dobbins had an outstanding college career, totaling 725 rushing attempts for 4,459 yards and 38 touchdowns in three years at Ohio State.
More importantly, the former Buckeye had an excellent rookie season. Dobbins had 134 rushing attempts for 805 yards and nine touchdowns that season. He added 18 receptions on 24 targets for 120 receiving yards in the passing game.
Unfortunately, injuries hampered his career. Dobbins played only eight games over the next two years, totaling 92 rushing attempts for 520 yards and two touchdowns. Yet, fantasy players had high hopes for the former Ohio State star in 2023.

Is J.K. Dobbins Out For The Season?
The veteran running back had a solid start in yesterday’s win over the Houston Texans, totaling eight rushing attempts for 22 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two of his three targets for 15 yards in the contest.
Unfortunately, Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles in the game, ending his season after only 30 snaps. The former Ohio State star will be a free agent this offseason and likely has played his final game with the Ravens.
With Dobbins out for the year, Justice Hill, Gus Edwards, and Melvin Gordon will pick up the slack in Baltimore’s backfield.
Should I Pickup Justice Hill?
Hill had an impressive performance against the Texans, totaling two rushing touchdowns. However, he only had eight rushing attempts for nine yards in the game.
While the veteran had 12.9 half-point PPR fantasy points in the victory, fantasy players should be nervous about calling him the new featured running back. Edwards also had eight rushing attempts yesterday. Yet, he had 32 rushing yards, averaging more yards per rushing attempt than any other Ravens running back.
Meanwhile, Gordon didn’t play yesterday but should end up on the active roster before Baltimore’s Week 2 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The veteran running back struggled with fumbles last season but has the best pedigree on the team.
Furthermore, the Ravens could sign a veteran free agent like Leonard Fournette or Kareem Hunt. The team also might revisit trading for Jonathan Taylor with Dobbins out for the year.
Fantasy players should prioritize Kenneth Gainwell, Joshua Kelley, Kyren Williams, and Roschon Johnson over any Baltimore running back.
