New England tight end Hunter Henry has been a longtime stalwart for fantasy footballers throughout his career, but he had not done much for anybody in 2023 until Weeks 14 and 15 of the NFL regular season.
After scoring touchdowns in each of the opening two games of the season, Henry was harder to find on fantasy scoresheets than a hamburger at Chick-fil-A. He had just one TD and one 50-yard effort over a nine-game span that caused him to be dropped from most fantasy rosters. But after catching 10 passes for 106 yards and a trio of touchdowns over his last two contests, Henry is back on the fantasy map in a big way.
Henry’s best game of the season was marred at the end, however, when he was forced out of the game with a knee injury after being tackled awkwardly. His status for Week 16 is in doubt. So is Henry injured or healthy? Will he be able to suit up for his fantasy managers for their playoff tilts? Here is the latest:

Is Hunter Henry Injured or Healthy?
Henry is hurt, but he might be healthy enough to play by the time Sunday rolls around.
Henry did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to get in a limited session on Friday. His availability for New England’s Christmas Eve night game at Denver is definitely in doubt. Henry is listed as questionable at the present time, so we probably will not know for sure if he will play Sunday night until they announce the inactive list 90 minutes before kickoff.
If Henry is able to get on the field, he should be able to post fantastic fantasy numbers against Denver’s 23rd-ranked pass defense. The Broncos just allowed Detroit’s Jared Goff to throw five touchdown passes against them last weekend, and this is the same defense that let the Miami Dolphins rack up 70 points earlier in the season. If Henry cannot get cleared for the game, tight end teammate Mike Gesicki is a low-risk, low-price pickup for someone desperate for a tight end.
If you roster Henry or are thinking about picking him up for your playoff game or DFS contest this weekend, you must monitor his progress throughout the weekend. He will likely be a game-time decision. Let’s hope Henry can strap on his helmet and play since he has been one of the hottest tight ends in fantasy football now that Bailey Zappe is his quarterback and the rest of the Patriots receiving corps has battled injuries and inconsistency.
