This past offseason, tight end Hayden Hurst signed a three-year, $21.75 million contract with the Carolina Panthers. After having a productive campaign with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, Hurst cashed out on his opportunity and secured a good move for himself.
With the Panthers giving up D.J. Moore to draft Bryce Young, they needed some help on offense and had faith in the former Bengals tight end. His career with the Panthers started off in great fashion when he scored a touchdown in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.
In this article, we will discuss whether Hurst is a good waiver wire pickup for Week 2, as he has shown he can put up good stats this season.

Should You Pickup Hayden Hurst on Waivers?
Bryce Young has one of the worst supporting casts in the league. DJ Chark is out injured, and that leaves the quarterback with only Hayden Hurst, Adam Thielen, Jonathan Mingo, and Terrace Marshall Jr. as his primary weapons.
In the first game against the Falcons, Hurst was targeted the most, along with Marshall Jr., among all Panthers players. He finished the game with five receptions on seven targets for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Last season, we saw Joe Burrow show trust in Hurst in critical situations, which is why he will be a valuable pickup on waivers for Week 2. It won't be easy to get him, but fantasy football players should definitely target him given how many tight ends have already suffered injuries.
Hayden Hurst Could Play A Big Role On The Panthers Offense
As the season continues to progress, we are likely to see Young rely more on the 30-year-old tight end. Hurst had an ADP of 263 heading into the season, and it resulted in many people passing on him. However, with what we saw in Week 1, the tight end will be a valuable addition to any team if he stays healthy.
Last season, Hurst played 13 games in which he had 52 receptions for 414 yards and scored two touchdowns. In Cincinnati, he played alongside Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd, which is why his numbers weren't that impressive. Since the Panthers don't have a stacked offense, Hurst will act as a safety blanket for the first overall pick and is likely to put up decent numbers.
