The Denver Broncos had big plans for tight end Greg Dulcich in his second year. After being drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Dulcich had a very impressive rookie season -- even while missing seven games due to a hamstring injury.
But it looks like the same hamstring issue that forced him to miss seven games in 2022 has crept back up on Dulcich. The Broncos tight end left Sunday's game with the injury, and his MRI didn't reveal position news.
How long will Dulcich miss? Should I pick up Adam Trautman on waivers? Let's dive in.
Is Greg Dulcich Injured?
Dulcich, unfortunately, injured his hamstring right before half following a downfield route that caused the tight end to walk off slowly, holding his leg. The 23-year-old did not return in the contest and finished with two catches for 22 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1.
However, an MRI confirmed on Tuesday that Dulcich will be sidelined for "multiple weeks" as he nurses his hamstring issue. While we don't know the severity of the injury, there's a chance he could end up on the injured reserve list and miss at least four games.
Dulcich suffered the same hamstring injury to begin his rookie campaign in 2022, causing him to miss five games from Week 1 to Week 5. Then, he missed the final two games of the year with the same hamstring issue. Now, the same injury will cause him to miss more games in 2023.
Should I Pickup And Start Adam Trautman For Week 2?
With Dulcich out for multiple weeks, Broncos tight end Adam Trautman is an interesting waiver wire choice for Week 2 and beyond. He caught all five of his targets for 34 yards in Week 1, and Trautman could see more of that consistency on offense with the young playmaker out.
But, realistically, Trautman should only be picked up in dire situations, possibly in 14-plus team leagues. The Broncos' tight end has never been fantasy-relevant in his career or caught more than 30 passes in a season.
He will definitely see more chances now in the receiving game with Dulcich missing multiple weeks. However, there are better tight end waiver wire options that you should be targeting like Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave, New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry, or even Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz.
