Los Angeles Chargers tight end Gerald Everett signed with the team in the offseason to fill the role Jared Cook left behind when he departed in free agency.
While Everett figured to be a focal point of the offense, he emerged as a top target for the team because of the injuries they suffered at the wide receiver position, namely Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. He became a reliable weekly option at the tight end position, which is difficult to find.
Unfortunately, he exited their game against the 49ers on Sunday with a groin injury that leaves fantasy managers wondering about his status. Is Everett healthy or injured? Let's dive in.

Gerald Everett Injury Updates for Fantasy Football
Everett was on a streak of five receptions in three consecutive weeks, with seven or more targets in each of those games. He figured to be a necessity again, facing a difficult San Francisco squad that was favored to win. Midway through the game, Everett left the field, prompting this update.
It did not sound serious at the time but, his ability to continue playing seemed in doubt.
Gerald Everett Injury News
He never did return to action, ending his day preemptively. On Monday, head coach Brandon Staley provided a further update.
A player receiving a day-to-day tag is always difficult to decipher because of the discrepancy in the outcome for players described that way. We see players return that same week while other individuals miss multiple weeks. Based on the quote, it sounds optimistic for Week 11, especially when he references participating in practice this week.
Is Gerald Everett Playing in Week 9?
Fantasy managers will need to monitor Everett's practice reports throughout the week, but based on the initial update it seems probable that he will suit up for a divisional matchup with the top-place Chiefs.
The Kansas City defense has been vulnerable to the opponents passing attack, which should open the door for a solid game from Everett. Especially if Allen and Williams end up missing another game, which has yet to be determined but seems likely at this point. Everett will be a top-12 tight end in Week 11.
