George Kittle and the San Francisco 49ers will begin their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a full offseason of drama around their quarterback situation, Brock Purdy is ready to start from scratch. Trey Lance was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, and now the whole focus for the franchise shifts to winning the Super Bowl.
Over the past few years, the 49ers have missed out on Super Bowls due to injuries to their key players. To start this season, there has been uncertainty around Kittle's status, as he dealt with a groin injury throughout training camp and preseason.
In this article, we will discuss whether he is starting in Week 1 or not, and if he is, is the tight end worth starting.

Will George Kittle Play In Week 1?
As per recent reports, George Kittle is questionable for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will most likely be a game-time decision, as the coaching staff and medical staff will make a judgment after the tight end performs his pre-game workout.
If Kittle doesn't play, then it will be a huge blow for the 49ers, as he has built great chemistry with quarterback Brock Purdy. Without him, they will heavily rely on Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel, as the running game will be their key to success.
The 29-year-old tight end joins Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, and Darren Waller among the notable tight ends who have had injury concerns to start the season. This has made it tough for the fantasy managers to make decisions, as all of them were projected to have big seasons.
Should You Start George Kittle?
Since George Kittle's status for the game is unknown, it will be better to sit him out this week. Even if he plays, the 49ers will limit him so as not to aggravate his groin injury. Other tight ends or position players can be used as flex options to be on the safe side.
Last season, Kittle played 15 games in which he recorded 60 receptions for 765 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Whenever he gets fully cleared to play, he will definitely be a solid option to rely on as long as Purdy is the 49ers quarterback.
