Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (knee) suffered a knee injury against the Green Bay Packers in Week 15. It was serious enough that he exited the contest and was not able to return. Backup QB Sam Howell finished out the game, and delivered a very poor performance in relief.
Whether Smith is able to play again this year is massively important for fantasy managers who have him, any of the team's receivers, or even its running backs on their roster. The offense would likely take a massive step back without Smith, who has played well despite essentially not having a real offensive line.
So will Smith be able to play again this year?

Is Geno Smith Out For The Season?
Not only did he avoid major injury, but it looks like he'll be able to practice this week. This is excellent news. Right now, it seems like he should be able to return as early as Week 16. Apparently, the team's medical testing revealed that his ailment wasn't serious. He was reportedly working out on Monday.
Mike Macdonald said on Geno Smith’s knee injury: “We’re fortunate, a lot of positive, optimistic signs” from tests. Calls Smith “a beast” and said he was here working out this morning. Optimistic he’ll practice this week and be able to play. pic.twitter.com/3ka63X0FZw

Fantasy managers will need to wait until the Seahawks release their practice report for Wednesday to know for sure if he returns right away. But even if he's not able to practice on Wednesday, it wouldn't be surprising if they held him out just to give him time to recover. Seattle is in the midst of a playoff hunt.
They sit at 8-6 with games against the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Rams coming up. It's a tough road ahead, but they could end up in the playoffs even if they win one of those games. So shutting down Smith this early is out of the question.
