During Week 4 when the Seattle Seahawks squared off against the Detroit Lions, running back Fred Jackson suffered a high ankle sprain and was knocked out of commission for the remainder of the game. According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Fred Jackson made a “remarkable recovery” and is expected to play on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Fantasy owners should proceed with caution if wavering on starting Jackson due to the fact that it’s likely Seattle is pushing Jackson into playing because Marshawn Lynch isn’t an option at this point. If both would have been sidelined, Seattle would have to rely exclusively on Thomas Rawls and Rod Smith (an undrafted free agent with zero career touches). Rawls, who averaged 16.5 carries over the last two weeks, is likely to get a majority of the touches this Sunday in order to avoid Jackson re-aggravating his injury.
In short, avoid Jackson wherever possible. Who knows--Rapoport's take on "remarkable" might be different than yours.
