Veteran tight end Foster Moreau is a free agent this offseason. The former LSU Tiger was a fourth-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Moreau has been a solid player for the Raiders. He has 91 receptions on 132 targets for 1,107 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in 61 career games. However, the veteran tight end picked up his play the past two years.
The former LSU Tiger totaled 63 receptions on 98 targets for 793 receiving yards and five touchdowns over the past two seasons. The 63 receptions account for nearly 70% of his career total. More importantly, Moreau stepped up for Las Vegas when Darren Waller missed time with injuries.

What Did Foster Moreau Accomplish In 2022?
Last year the veteran tight end had 33 receptions on 54 targets for 420 receiving yards, all career highs. Moreau also had a pair of receiving touchdowns in 2022.
However, the former LSU Tiger had 19 receptions on 37 targets for 242 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the eight games Waller missed last season. While those numbers aren’t eye-popping, the veteran tight end played well in replacement of the starter.
Is Foster Moreau A Good Fit With The Saints?
While Las Vegas traded Waller to the New York Giants last week, the team likely won’t bring back Moreau. The Raiders signed O.J. Howard in free agency and will bring in Austin Hooper for a visit on Wednesday.
However, Moreau will have no trouble finding a new home on the open market. The New Orleans Saints brought in the veteran tight end for a visit over the weekend.
Moreau is a New Orleans native and went to school at LSU. However, the more important connection is Derek Carr. The star quarterback spent the past four years playing with Moreau. While New Orleans re-signed Juwan Johnson this offseason, adding Moreau would give the team options at the tight end position.
Adding the veteran tight end would be an excellent move for the Saints. However, fantasy players shouldn’t expect much from Moreau in New Orleans. Johnson will be the main pass catcher at the tight end position. Last year he led the team with seven receiving touchdowns, a career-high.
Furthermore, Moreau has never been a fantasy star. Even when he replaced Waller in Las Vegas, the veteran was a streaming tight end based on the matchup. While this move makes sense on paper for the team, it has little fantasy implications.
