Former Northwestern running back Evan Hull was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He appeared to be in line to be the fourth-string running back if he made the roster, but after Zack Moss broke his arm and Jonathan Taylor's (back injury/trade request) future became uncertain, Hull will now see increased opportunity during training camp.
Hull is an intriguing prospect with some key positives in his profile, so he could make an impact earlier than expected.

Evan Hull Prospect Profile
In Hull's final two seasons at Northwestern, he rushed 417 times for 1,922 yards (4.61 YPC) and 12 touchdowns. As a receiver, he racked up 94 catches for 810 yards and four receiving scores. He was ultra-productive in the passing game and 55 of his career receptions came in his senior season while earning a 17.3% target share (97th-percentile via PlayerProfiler.com).
At the 2023 NFL Combine, Hull posted a 4.47 40-yard dash, a 2.55 20-yard split, and a 1.43 10-yard split -- earning an elite speed grade.
The 22-year-old running back likely fell to the fifth round because of his size, but he has the makings of an excellent receiving back.
Is Hull Worth Drafting For Fantasy Football?
While it's too early to know how Moss' injury will progress and if Taylor will play for the Colts early in the season, Hull should be firmly on the fantasy radar in deep PPR leagues. While Deon Jackson is also in line to see an increased role, Hull would likely hold down the receiving back role if Moss and Taylor miss the start of the 2023 campaign.
Hull is unlikely to have a full-fledged breakout season, but any running back with potential pass-catching work should be rostered in deep redraft and dynasty formats.
In best ball leagues, he could be worth a late-round flier moving forward.
