The Indianapolis Colts are 0-1 this season after losing 31-21 in Week 1 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. While the final score wasn’t surprising, the Colts came away with several things to improve for the Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans.
At the top of the list is the running back position. Jonathan Taylor can’t return until Week 5. The superstar running back is on the Physically Unable to Perform list and must miss the first four games this season. Meanwhile, Zack Moss missed Week 1 with a fractured forearm he suffered during training camp.
More importantly, the Colts got little production from their running backs. Deon Jackson was the starter, with Taylor and Moss unable to play. Yet, the former Duke running back had only 14 rushing yards on 13 attempts in Week 1.

Is Evan Hull Injured?
With Taylor and Moss on the sidelines, fantasy players had high hopes for the rookie running back. Hull had a productive college career, totaling 488 rushing attempts for 2,417 yards and 18 touchdowns at Northwestern. He also had 94 receptions for 851 yards and four touchdowns in college.
However, his NFL debut was a disaster. The rookie had one rushing attempt for one yard and one reception for six yards against the Jaguars. Unfortunately, Hull suffered a knee injury early in the game.
Earlier today, the Colts placed the former Northwestern running back on injured reserve and promoted Jake Funk to the active roster. Hull will miss at least the next four games with the knee injury.
Should I Pickup And Start Zack Moss For Week 2?
Indianapolis only has two healthy running backs on the roster, with Taylor, Moss, and Hull injured. However, help is on the way for Jackson and Funk. Moss is expected to return this week after missing the preseason and Week 1 with the fractured forearm.
However, should fantasy players add the veteran running back off the waiver wire and start him in Week 2 against the Texans?
Fantasy players should make Moss one of their top waiver claims this week. Last year, the former Utah star averaged 17.3 rushing attempts for 83.5 yards and 10.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game over the final four contests.
Hopefully, Taylor returns in Week 5 and is 100% ready to play. Until the superstar returns, Moss will be the Colts’ No. 1 running back.
