Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram (shoulder) missed his team's Week 15 game due to a shoulder injury. Fantasy managers who drafted the overall TE2 in PPR scoring from 2023 haven't been pleased with his production so far this year, but the Jags have been an organization in plenty of turmoil.
JAX's season has been derailed partially by injuries to starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence (concussion, shoulder) and overall poor production due to the ineptitude of the team's offensive coordinator, Press Taylor. Taylor shouldn't have an NFL job, but head coach Doug Pederson insists on keeping him around.
The team also drafted star rookie wideout Brian Thomas Jr., who's been siphoning away targets from other players. The injury doesn't help things for Engram, either. But will he be out for the year?

Is Evan Engram Out For The Season?
Yes, it's over. Engram tore the labrum in one of his shoulders and is scheduled to have surgery to correct the issue. Jacksonville is opting to shut him down, likely in part because they've been eliminated from playoff contention already. There isn't much left to play for, especially with Lawrence set to have surgery as well.

Will have a shoulder labrum repair and is out for the year.
This is a 4-6 month rehab but outcomes are very good. Should be fine for next year 👇🏻

It's a lost season for one of the best TEs of 2023, but he should be fully healthy and ready to go when the 2025 season rolls around. His ceiling probably won't be nearly as high, since he's unlikely to be hyper-targeted to the degree he was in '23. The presence of Thomas, already an elite wideout, likely won't allow for that.
But due to the injury and the overall state of the Jags' 2024 season, perhaps he can be drafted at a value in '25. TEs aren't usually a great position to invest premium fantasy football draft picks in, as we've seen with this year's "top" tight ends, but if he falls far enough and Jacksonville hires a competent offensive staff, drafting him to your teams could pay off. Next year.
