Is Emari Demercado Playing In Week 9?
Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. The rookie out of TCU had 20 carries for 78 yards last week in the team's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Demercado took 55% of Arizona's offensive snaps while backup Keaontay Ingram played 38% of the snaps.
Demercado has played well since taking over for the injured James Conner. He had 49 carries for 195 yards and a touchdown this season. Demercado has also caught 12 passes for 64 yards.
With the rookie sidelined, who'll see more work in the Cardinals backfield?
Should I Start Keaontay Ingram for Fantasy Football Week 9
With Emari Demercado out, Keaontay Ingram should take over as the lead back for the Cardinals, but what's his fantasy football upside? Should fantasy managers pick him up and start him this week?
The second-year back has 24 carries this season for 64 yards. He had 10 carries on Oct. 15 against the Rams, finishing with 40 rushing yards. Ingram also caught two passes for 11 yards in that game.
While Ingram will start this week, there's not a ton of upside in fantasy. The Cardinals will be facing a tough Browns defense and Ingram has yet to really impress in the NFL. Fantasy managers should consider him a low-end RB3 play. He could see his touches impacted if the Cardinals continue to use Rondale Moore as a running back at times, plus Corey Clement should get a handful of touches as well. Don't expect huge production from Ingram this week.
