New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (concussion) was unfortunately forced out of his Week 8 game against the New York Jets. He had two straight games of 15+ points in Weeks 6-7, the first two games he played after being named the starter over backup Jacoby Brissett.
Maye has impressed in his limited action, and the offense he runs looks markedly different than that headed by Brissett. The rookie signal-caller has a beautiful deep ball, exhibits great decision-making, and showcased fantastic mobility used to extend plays and even generate impactful rushing yards and touchdowns.
So is Maye hurt or healthy, and will he play in Week 9?

Is Drake Maye Injured or Playing in Week 9?
He wasn't able to finish his game in Week 8 due to a concussion. A player from the opposing Jets team launched himself at No. 10 as he was sliding after a run and hit him helmet-to-helmet, causing a concussion and sending the QB to concussion protocol. He has been recovering since.
The NFL’s officiating needs to be revamped and fixed. You miss this obvious helmet to helmet when a QB is giving himself up and it results in a potential concussion/Drake Maye being knocked out of the game. pic.twitter.com/52RwMS6sCR

It was an unfortunate turn of events. Maye was having a stellar game to that point, having rushed for a touchdown and drove the offense down the field effectively to that point. He is designated as "Questionable" for Week 9, meaning fantasy managers will have to stay updated on this situation.
The final list of active players is required to be submitted by teams 90 minutes before kickoff, meaning the latest that managers will know the freshman's status will be 1:00 PM ET on Sunday.
Drake Maye Fantasy Football Injury Outlook
If he's not able to go, the offense takes a huge hit. New England had one of the worst offenses in the league under the veteran Brissett. He's not a terrible quarterback, but he's best suited as a backup that can manage the game to some degree in a starter's stead. He gives the team a small chance to win, but it's not zero.

However, the rookie already looks like a stud, and has impressive mobility. His deep-ball accuracy is surprisingly elite for his lack of experience. He has the highest graded deep ball in the league according to Pro Football Focus.
Drake Maye has the best deep ball in football and throws it close to the least.

The team's receiver become unstartable if he can't play. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson should probably be started for projected volume anyway, but he likely will have less running room in Maye's absence. WR DeMario Douglas, Stevenson, and Maye are must-starts when all are healthy.
