Carolina Panthers running back D'Onta Foreman didn't have the ideal start to his NFL career. The former Texas Longhorn was a third-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2017.
However, he played only 11 games in two years with the Texans. Foreman had only 326 rushing yards and two touchdowns in those contests. More importantly, he suffered a torn Achilles as a rookie and never fully recovered.
After sitting out the 2019 season, Foreman spent two years with the Tennessee Titans. He played a critical role for the team in 2021 when Derrick Henry missed half the year with a foot injury. Following his time with the Titans, the Panthers signed the veteran running back to a one-year deal last offseason.

Is D'Onta Foreman A Free Agent In 2023?
When Carolina traded Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers, Foreman took over as the lead running back. In the 11 games without the superstar running back, the former Longhorn averaged 17.4 rushing attempts for 79.7 yards per game. He also had five rushing touchdowns during that span.
More importantly, Foreman had a career year in 2022. His 914 rushing yards last year were only 73 fewer than his career total entering the season. The veteran running back will be part of a talented free agent running back class this offseason.
Which Team Will Sign D'Onta Foreman?
Despite having fewer than 2,000 career rushing yards, Foreman will reportedly be a hot commodity on the open market next week.
The Panthers want to bring back the veteran running back this offseason at the right price. Foreman was the RB19 over the last 12 weeks last season, averaging 11.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Therefore, fantasy players would love to see the former Longhorn return to Carolina.
However, another appealing landing spot would be the Philadelphia Eagles. Miles Sanders is a free agent this offseason and likely won’t return next season. While the team likes Kenneth Gainwell, the former Memphis running back isn’t a lead guy.
Philadelphia could sign Foreman for less than what Sanders would cost. The Eagles could maintain their strong running back by committee approach with Foreman, Gainwell, and a Day 3 rookie. If he lands in Philadelphia, the former Longhorn could have a career year in 2023 behind that elite offensive line.
