While many expected DK Metcalf to take a significant step back in 2022 due to a retooled Seattle Seahawks offense, the fourth-year WR has put forth solid, if unspectacular, statistics while developing a rapport with QB Geno Smith. Through Seattle's first seven, Metcalf ranks in the top 25 among wide receivers in targets (52), receptions (31), and receiving yards (418).
Unfortunately, Metcalf was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury during the first half of Seattle's Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and did not return to the game.
How significant is Metcalf's injury? What is his fantasy football outlook for this coming week?

Is DK Metcalf Injured?
Metcalf's fantasy managers likely feared the worst when he was carted from the field with what appeared to be a significant knee injury in a Week 7 contest against the Chargers.
Fortunately, it looks as though Metcalf received positive news from his initial exam, as X-Rays on his knee were negative. Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that his star receiver did not tear his ACL and will avoid surgery. While it appears that Metcalf avoided catastrophe, Carroll did say that he injured his patellar tendon.
Pete Carroll tells @TheMikeSalk and @BrockHuard that DK Metcalf won't need surgery. He got "a great report" this morning that showed "he hurt his patellar some." Said Metcalf is determined to practice Wednesday, but Carroll sounded skeptical of that. Overall, he sounded relieved.

DK Metcalf Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief, as it appears Metcalf has dodged a season-ending injury. That said, there is no current timetable for his return to action. He should be considered week-to-week at this point. Due to that uncertainty, those with Metcalf on their fantasy squads might want to grab some form of insurance on the waiver wire this week.
In addition to relying on incumbent starter Tyler Lockett, Seattle would turn to wideouts Marquise Goodwin and Dee Eskridge if Metcalf were to miss time. Goodwin saw an expanded role after Metcalf's early Week 7 exit and responded with four catches for 67 yards and two TDs against the Chargers. In just his second NFL season, Eskridge is the more unproven commodity and has snagged just six balls for 55 yards in limited action this year.
DK Metcalf does not need surgery on his left knee after an MRI revealed a patellar tendon injury suffered in Sunday’s win, Pete Carroll said on his Monday radio show.
