What a rollercoaster offseason it has been for Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane and fantasy football enthusiasts. He was drafted by Miami, a good offense that did not already have an established star running back on the roster, and impressed in OTAs. Then, the third-round pick suffered an undisclosed injury that cost him a couple of days of practice. Shortly after his return, veteran RB Jeff Wilson Jr. hurt his hand and has since been placed on injured reserve.
Next, came the climax of the coaster. The biggest rise came when free agent Dalvin Cook signed with the New York Jets instead of Miami. But what goes up, must come down. Three days later, Achane injured his shoulder in a preseason game against the Houston Texans.
The final twists and turns came when the Dolphins were rumored as a potential destination for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor but the two teams were unable to agree on a trade.

Is De'Von Achane Playing In Week 1 Against The Chargers?
The non-contact jersey Achane has been rocking at practices is no more. The ex-Texas A&M Aggie is now practicing in full, which suggests he'll be active for his first NFL game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
His first full practice came 18 days after his initial injury. That's a long time for a rookie to miss as he works to get acclimated to the NFL game.
Should I Start De'Von Achane In Week 1?
The Dolphins do have a starting running back for fantasy football managers in Week 1 but his name is not De'Von Achane. Raheem Mostert has been healthy in training camp, which helped the veteran secure the starting role. The other two backs in the running - Jeff Wilson Jr. and the aforementioned Achane - missed time.
The rookie is listed third on the Dolphins' depth chart behind Mostert and Salvon Ahmed and the projection is that Achane will receive just a handful of carries in Week 1. He's a low-end RB4 but will always boast a high ceiling due to the game-breaking speed that he brings to the field.
