Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane was the 84th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Achane had an impressive college career, totaling 369 rushing attempts for 2,376 yards and 21 touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per attempt in three years at Texas A&M. He also had 65 receptions for 554 receiving yards and five touchdowns in college.
The former Texas A&M star was a popular dynasty rookie draft pick, given the lack of competition in the backfield. Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. have struggled with injuries during their careers. However, Mostert has stayed healthy in 2023 and is having an excellent fantasy football season.
More importantly, Achane had an up-and-down rookie year. He didn’t play in Week 1 and had only one rushing attempt in Week 2. However, the explosive running back has been electric when on the field.

De'Von Achane Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Unfortunately, Achane missed four weeks earlier in the season with a knee injury. However, he returned in Week 11 to face the Las Vegas Raiders. Yet, the return was short, as the rookie left the game after having one rushing attempt and one reception.
Achane re-injured the same knee that cost him four games. Thankfully, the injury doesn’t seem severe. Head coach Mike McDaniel implied the injury was minor. Yet, he also said the team was still gathering information. However, McDaniel wouldn’t say whether or not Achane would play Friday against the New York Jets.
De'Von Achane Fantasy Football Outlook
Hopefully, the rookie is ready for the critical AFC East matchup on Black Friday. He has been outstanding when on the field, averaging 12.3 rushing attempts for 151.7 yards and 1.7 touchdowns per game over his past three healthy contests. Achane also played a meaningful role in the passing game, totaling eight receptions on 10 targets for 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns in those three matchups.
More importantly, the former Texas A&M star is the RB27 for the year, averaging 19.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game despite missing half the contests with injuries.
Mostert, Wilson, and Salvon Ahmed will see increased touches if Achane can’t play on Friday against the Jets.
