New York Giants lead running back Devin Singletary got off to a nice start to 2023, but it hasn't been as great since the start of Week 4. After three straight fantasy startable performances, his production faceplanted in Week 4 to the tune of just 4.80 PPR fantasy points.
The Dallas Cowboys, their opponent last week, typically have the Giants' number, and have dominated them in recent years, and Dallas has a 14-1 win-to-loss ration in the last 15 matchups. While it was a terrible deal for the former Buffalo Bill, fantasy managers shouldn't read into this performance too much.
What they should read into are injury reports, and Singletary has appeared on that report for the Giants. Will Devin Singletary play in Week 5? If not, should you start backup Tyrone Tracy Jr.? Let's dive in.

Is Devin Singletary Playing In Week 5?
It's looking like he won't. Singletary was listed as "Doubtful" on Friday's injury report for the Giants. He is dealing with a groin injury. Doubtful designations should be treated as "Out" by fantasy managers, as the majority of time they lead to the player being inactive for the game.
I’d be surprised if RB Devin Singletary played Sunday, as well. It’s Jalin Hyatt and Tyrone Tracy Jr. time for the #Giants without 2 of top 3 offensive skill players. Does Turbo enter the chat?! https://t.co/GbiE9lJP16

That's not good news for the Giants. They'll definitely be missing star rookie WR Malik Nabers (concussion), so even if Singletary is able to go, the opposing defense should be able to focus more attention on him. Either way, Singletary managers in fantasy football should have a backup plan ready to go.
Should I Start Tyrone Tracy Jr. for Fantasy Football Week 5?
It would be risky and probably not the best idea. As said before, Nabers won't play, which means the opposing defense, the Seattle Seahawks, should be able to focus more attention on the run. The Cowboys did that in Week 4, and the results were pretty grim for Singletary owners.
It wouldn't be surprising if Seattle stacked the box often. Defenses are utterly unafraid of the Giants' WR tandem of Wan'Dale Robinson, Jalinn Hyatt and Darius Slayton. And they're definitely not afraid of QB Daniel Jones.
The Giants QB can’t hit receivers deep, hasn’t won many games in 6 years and is highly overpaid for the lack of results he’s produced. https://t.co/8em5okpQbS

This game is looking like it will be ugly for the Giants, and a strategy that doesn't employ any of their players could be a wise move. A depleted offensive roster can easily lead to none of the players being fantasy relevant. Tracy is a 5th round rookie who has averaged 2.4 yards per carry this season. There are no signs of an imminent breakout. Leave him on the bench for now.
