Derek Carr Injury Update for Fantasy Football
New Orleans Saints quarterback suffered a host of injuries in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions. The biggest concern might be that Carr has landed in the league's concussion protocol for the second time in the past three games.
Carr's also dealing with shoulder and rib issues as well, putting his Week 14 availability in serious doubt. Players rarely return the first week after suffering a concussion, so even without the other injuries, it would appear Carr is heading for the sidelines against Carolina.
It remains unclear how much time Carr might miss beyond Week 14, if any.
Derek Carr Fantasy Football Outlook
With Derek Carr expected to be sidelined, the Saints would likely turn to Jameis Winston at quarterback on Sunday. He has yet to start a game this season, but played extensively in Week 10 after Carr's first concussion.
In that game, Winston was 13-for-25 for 122 yards and two touchdowns but was picked off twice. Interceptions are a major issue for Winston. His fantasy ceiling is higher than Carr's because he throws the ball deeper, but his floor is also lower because of the turnover issues.
Either way, no Saints quarterback is really more than a mid-range QB2 option, especially with the threat of Taysom Hill to vulture valuable possessions when the team inserts him under center near the goal line.
