San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Samuel had an impressive college career, totaling 148 receptions for 2,076 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in four years at South Carolina. He also had 25 rushing attempts for 154 yards and seven touchdowns in college.
The former Gamecock was a solid player over his first two NFL seasons, totaling 90 receptions on 125 targets for 1,193 receiving yards and four touchdowns. However, he missed 10 games over those two years because of injuries.
Yet, Samuel was outstanding in 2021, totaling 136 touches for 1,770 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns. He was a top-five wide receiver and made the AP All-Pro First Team that year. While his numbers regressed last season, the veteran was still a productive fantasy wide receiver.

What Has Deebo Samuel Accomplished This Season?
Many expected Samuel to struggle, with Christian McCaffrey entering his first full year with the 49ers. However, the former South Carolina star has 20 receptions on 32 targets for 302 receiving yards and a touchdown this season. He also has 18 rushing attempts for 95 yards and a touchdown.
More importantly, Samuel is the WR27 this season, averaging 10.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game despite playing through multiple injuries. Unfortunately, the star wide receiver suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Is Deebo Samuel Injured Or Healthy?
While he didn’t return to last week’s game against the Browns, Samuel’s injury isn’t considered a long-term issue. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the former South Carolina star is day-to-day and could play this week.
Hopefully, Samuel can play in Week 7 because he has an excellent matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. They have surrendered 34.9 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season, the sixth-most in the NFL. Minnesota has given up two or more receiving touchdowns in a third of their contests this year.
Furthermore, the 49ers could be without Christian McCaffrey for Monday night’s matchup against the Vikings. San Francisco will lean on Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason if McCaffrey can’t play. However, Samuel could have an increased role in the run game if the superstar running back can’t play.
