An injury robbed NFL fans of the matchup of the year: Deebo Samuel versus "Wisconsin Deebo" (a.k.a. Jayden Reed).
The original version was off to a quick start for the 49ers in the Divisional round before suffering a shoulder injury in the first quarter. His absence impacted the entire offensive game plan for San Francisco, although they were eventually able to pull through.
His status is now in doubt for next Sunday when the 49ers host the NFC Championship game.

Is Deebo Samuel Injured or Healthy?
Initially evaluated for a head injury, the concern then turned to Samuel's shoulder. He'll have more tests done today, but there's optimism that he'll be available next week.
This is, however, the same shoulder that Samuel injured during the regular season. A hairline fracture cost the former All-Pro two games over three weeks. San Francisco's bye week arrived at the tail end of his recovery. Based on his attitude and initial range of motion in his shoulder, it appears that it's not the same injury (or at least not as severe) this time around.
Deebo Samuel Fantasy Football Outlook
Samuel was (and is often) a massive part of the game plan for the 49ers against the Packers. Number 19 caught Brock Purdy's first two completions. In his place, wide receiver Jauan Jennings snagged five receptions for 61 yards. He even received a carry in honor of his fallen comrade. Samuel was trending toward being the star of the game.
Whether it was the rain or Samuel's departure, Purdy and the rest of the hyper-efficient San Francisco offense sputtered. Purdy pushed through the third-worst completion percentage of his season. Brandon Aiyuk was uninspiring, being the primary focus of the Green Bay secondary. Good thing they also have the betting favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year, Christian McCaffrey, who propelled the offense late and scored the game-winning touchdown.
When Samuel was sidelined earlier this season, the 49ers lost both of his missed games. It's impossible to replace the production that he delivers. If he's healthy and on the field, he'll have a great chance to post strong numbers. Detroit and Tampa Bay were both soft in the secondary during the regular season.
