San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Samuel had an impressive college career, totaling 148 receptions for 2,076 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in four years at South Carolina. He also had 25 rushing attempts for 154 yards and seven touchdowns in college.
The former Gamecock had a solid rookie season, totaling 71 touches for 961 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns. Unfortunately, he struggled with injuries in 2020. Samuel had 41 touches for 417 scrimmage yards and one touchdown that year, playing in only seven contests.
However, the former South Carolina star has played well over the past few years. He has averaged 117 touches for 1,317 scrimmage yards and 9.5 touchdowns per season in 2021 and 2022. Unfortunately, Samuel did miss multiple games because of injuries.

Deebo Samuel Injury Update For Fantasy Football
While he has been outstanding when healthy, the former Gamecock has always struggled to stay on the field. Samuel hasn’t played an entire season once in his NFL career. Unfortunately, that streak continued this year.
Samuel suffered a small hairline fracture in his shoulder in the Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The injury knocked him out for the following two games against the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals.
Thankfully, the 49ers had their bye in Week 9. Samuel was back at practice today and could play this weekend.
Deebo Samuel Fantasy Football Outlook
The former South Carolina star was the WR27, averaging 10.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game before getting hurt. He has 20 receptions on 32 targets for 302 receiving yards and a touchdown this season. Samuel also contributed 18 rushing attempts for 95 yards and a touchdown over the first six games.
Hopefully, the veteran wide receiver can play this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. San Francisco has lost three consecutive games after starting the year 5-0. Unfortunately, Samuel’s return is bad news for George Kittle’s fantasy value.
In the two games Samuel hasn’t played this season, Kittle was the TE5, averaging 15 fantasy points per game, scoring 10.5 or more in both contests. By comparison, the veteran was the TE7, averaging 8.1 fantasy points per game in the six contests the star wide receiver has played this season.
Sadly, the 49ers offense has too many elite weapons to make Samuel, Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Brandon Aiyuk all elite fantasy starters every week.
