Is Deebo Samuel Hurt or Healthy? Fantasy Football Injury Update

Deebo Samuel - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Is Deebo Samuel hurt or healthy? Is Deebo Samuel playing in Week 3? Read the latest Deebo Samuel fantasy football injury updates and outlook.

San Francisco wide receiver Deebo Samuel looked great to begin his 2024 season, as he totaled 164 yards on 13 catches through the first two weeks of the season.

Unfortunately, Samuel suffered a calf strain at the end of the second game against the Minnesota Vikings, which will hold him out for most, if not all, of practice this week.

But will Deebo Samuel be available for the 49ers' Week 3 game against the Las Angeles Rams? Is Deebo Samuel injured? What is the latest news about Deebo Samuel's injury?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Deebo Samuel Injury Update for Fantasy Football

Coach Kyle Shanahan announced Monday that wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a calf injury late in Sunday's loss to Minnesota after recording eight receptions for 110 receiving yards.

The injury is significant enough that Samuel is expected to miss "a couple" of games while he recovers. The 49ers are expected to be cautious with Samuel's recovery process to prevent further setbacks, especially given the importance of keeping him healthy for the long season ahead.

Samuel is a key playmaker in the 49ers' offense, and his absence will leave a noticeable void. In the interim, the team will likely have to rely more heavily on other offensive weapons.

Samuel's return timeline will depend on how quickly his calf heals, but the 49ers are preparing for him to be out for at least a few games, and fantasy managers should be as well.

Deebo Samuel Fantasy Football Outlook

When Deebo Samuel returns from his calf injury, he should immediately return to your fantasy football starting lineup.

As one of the most dynamic and versatile players in the 49ers' offense, Samuel consistently contributes both as a receiver and a rusher, making him a must-start option in all formats. His ability to generate yards after the catch and his red-zone usage give him weekly upside once he’s healthy.

In the meantime, fantasy managers should consider picking up Jauan Jennings, who will likely see an increased role while Samuel is sidelined. Jennings could offer solid production in deeper leagues as the 49ers adjust their passing attack, but Samuel will resume his top-tier role upon his return.

Wideout Brandon Aiyuk should also see an increase in workload with Samuel sidelined. Samuel is expected to miss at least the next two weeks, but fantasy managers should monitor practice reports and injury updates throughout the week.
