Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) went on an absolute tear to end the 2023 NFL season, putting up gigantic numbers in the final few weeks of play and becoming a legitimate league winner for fantasy managers who were able to make the playoffs.
Njoku looked to build on this performance to start 2024, but QB Joe Flacco left for the Indianapolis Colts, and current QB Deshaun Watson has been much less productive. In addition, Njoku has been dealing with injury issues.
Is David Njoku hurt or healthy now? Will he be on the field in Week 3 against the New York Giants? Let's dive into an update on Njoku's injury and his outlook for fantasy football.

David Njoku Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Njoku suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 1 against the Cowboys, and exited the game, limping off the field with the help of trainers into the locker room. Njoku did not return to the game and ended up missing the Week 2 contest against the Jaguars as well. Njoku's injury looked significant on tape.

High ankle sprains typically take multiple weeks to recover from, and Njoku is no exception to this. Njoku didn't practice on Wednesday and is expected to miss Week Three as well. There isn't likely to be a miraculous recovery, and the Browns will want to take their time with one of their star playmakers.

High ankle sprains are serious injuries and take quite a bit of time to recover from. Njoku managers will want to monitor his status heading into Week 4, and though it's possible he could play then, typically with high ankle sprains, managers should expect at least a three-week absence.
Njoku hasn't been placed on injured reserve, so it's unlikely he will miss more than four games. The Browns likely expect him to return by Week 5 at the latest. Managers should be prepared for this timeline.
