With running back David Montgomery on track to return on Sunday, the Detroit Lions have some big decisions to make, as rookie Jahmyr Gibbs has played very well in his absence.
Gibbs has gone over 100 scrimmage yards in back-to-back games, including rushing for 152 yards last time out against the Las Vegas Raiders.

David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs Fantasy Football Outlook
Before he injured his ribs, Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery was looking like one of the NFL's best players. In the four full games that Montgomery played this season, the former Chicago Bear was averaging 22 carries for 92.8 rushing yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game.
With Montgomery hurt, rookie Jahmyr Gibbs took over the role. Over the past two games with Montgomery out, Gibbs averaged 18.5 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown and seven receptions for 47.5 yards.
This all begs an important question: which is the starter going forward? Based on his usage when he was healthy, Montgomery is likely to see more early down work, but Gibbs won't be the non-factor that he was before the Montgomery injury.
Should I Start David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs in Week 10?
Both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs are startable fantasy options against the Chargers in Week 10.
Montgomery is the safer play of the two, as he was the planned starter for the team this season and outpaced Gibbs when both were healthy. He should be viewed as a high-end RB2.
Gibbs has looked even more explosive and should see work in the passing game. His ceiling might be higher than Montgomery's, but his floor is also a good bit lower because it's possible Montgomery just dominates the rushing attempt battle. Consider Gibbs to be a low-end RB2 option this week, albeit a risky one. We'll have a better sense of this backfield following Week 10.
