Why Did The Jets Trade For Davante Adams?
The Jets entered the season with Garrett Wilson as the team's No. 1 receiver, but the receiving corps was questionable beyond that. Mike Williams has disappointed. Malachi Corley has disappointed. Xavier Gipson has... well, you get the point.
Allen Lazard has stepped up as the team's No. 2 receiver, but this is a team with an aging quarterback who is coming off an Achilles tear. New York's window to contend—if it's even going to happen—is right now.

So, the team took a shot at that goal by trading for Davante Adams, who came over from a struggling Raiders team. It's not clear if he'll actually be enough to even get this team to the playoffs, but the reasoning behind making the trade is clear.
Is Davante Adams or Garrett Wilson the WR1 for the Jets?
So, is Davante Adams now the WR1 for New York, or does Garrett Wilson keep that role? The answer after one game is complicated.
The Jets lost 37-15 to the Steelers in Adams' first game with the team. Both Adams and Wilson were targeted nine times, with Wilson catching five passes for 61 yards while Adams caught three for 30. Lazard was targeted just four times as he settled into the WR3 job.
Wilson played every snap while Adams went to the sidelines for just two plays.
Expected fantasy points among Week 7 WRs (per @FantasyPtsData):
24.2 - Cedrick Tillman
21.3 - George Pickens
20.1 - Drake London
18.9 - Calvin Ridley
17.1 - DK Metcalf
17.0 - Garrett Wilson
16.8 - Mason TiptonWhat is going on

Based on usage and familiarity with the QB, I lean slightly toward Adams as the top dog, but unless Aaron Rodgers starts throwing the ball better, it might not matter. With Lazard siphoning off some work, neither guy will consistently deliver big results for fantasy managers.
