Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller has been a fantasy superstar at a position that doesn't have many of them, so his slow start and injury troubles are concerning for fantasy managers that drafted him for 2022.
Waller posted two straight seasons of at least 90 catches and 1,000 yards in 2019 and 2020 but played in just 11 games in 2021. Fresh off a contract extension, the 30-year-old tight end has posted just 175 receiving yards on 16 catches through five games. In Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Waller aggravated a hamstring injury and was ruled out after just five snaps.
What is Waller's latest injury update and what is his rest-of-season outlook in fantasy football?

Is Darren Waller Healthy or Injured?
Waller missed some practice time heading into the Monday Night Football matchup with the Chiefs and evidently didn't feel right after a few snaps on the first drive of the game.
For now, it's tough to know exactly where his injury status sits with the team headed to a Week 6 bye. Las Vegas will not have to report his injury status. Until the bye week ends and the Raiders begin preparation for a game against the Texans, it'll likely be quiet for him on the injury news front.
That said, this could be an opportunity to buy low on him while frustrated fantasy managers have him to the bench.
Darren Waller Fantasy Football Outlook
While Waller fantasy managers are surely frustrated, he still has one of the highest ceilings of any tight end in the league. The Raiders' offense is starting to get it together, and its defense will force them into a lot of pass-happy game scripts throughout the remainder of the season.
We knew regression could be coming with the arrival of Davante Adams, but Waller was still a top-12 fantasy tight end heading into Week 5, which is about what his floor is. He's still likely to have boom weeks, especially if Adams is suspended after pushing a cameraman down after a loss.
For now, fantasy managers with Waller should hold him, while tight end-needy fantasy gamers should look to buy low on him.
