Veteran running back D’Andre Swift was a second-round in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.
He had an impressive rookie year, totaling 114 rushing attempts for 521 yards and eight touchdowns. Swift also had 46 receptions on 57 targets for 357 receiving yards and two touchdowns as a rookie.
Unfortunately, the talented running back has struggled with injuries in his career. Swift missed three games as a rookie, four in 2021, and three last season because of injuries. Meanwhile, he has totaled more than 160 touches in only one season in his career.

What Did D’Andre Swift Accomplish In 2022?
Last year Swift started the season was a massive performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Georgia star had 15 rushing attempts for 144 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. He also caught all three of his targets for 31 yards.
Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. Swift ended the year with 99 rushing attempts for 542 yards and five touchdowns. He also had 48 receptions on 70 targets for 389 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Between his injuries and Jamaal Williams’ breakout season, the former Bulldog had inconsistent fantasy impact. Unfortunately, things only got worse this offseason. The Lions signed David Montgomery to replace Williams in free agency. Then the team used their first-round draft pick on Jahmyr Gibbs.
Is D’Andre Swift A Good Fit For The Eagles?
After Detroit drafted Gibbs on Thursday night, Swift's time with the team was over. Earlier today, the Eagles and Lions agreed to a trade, sending the talented running back to Philadelphia. Detroit will receive a 2025 fifth-round pick for Swift. The two teams will also swap seventh-round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Eagles lost Miles Sanders in free agency this offseason after the former Penn State running back joined the Carolina Panthers. While the team signed Rashaad Penny, that didn’t stop them from adding Swift.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia backfield is arguably the most injury-prone group in the NFL. Penny has missed nearly half of the games in his career because of injury. Meanwhile, Swift hasn’t played a complete season in his career.
Between the two running backs, Swift is the better fantasy player. He has tremendous value in the passing game. Furthermore, he hasn’t suffered a season-ending injury in his career like Penny. Yet, fantasy players should expect both backs to have value in 2023.
