Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has been a first-round fantasy staple since his breakout 2019 season after battling injuries in his first two NFL seasons.
Cook has remained injury-riddled for the past three seasons of his career but has only missed a total of four games while playing through multiple injuries. He had to play especially cautiously with an injured shoulder last season due to a moderate re-injury risk.
The star running back had surgery this offseason to clean up the injury, repairing what was a torn labrum.

Dalvin Cook Injury Update
Cook has been in and out of games over the past three seasons due to his shoulder injury, but that should no longer be the case following this offseason’s procedure.
The 27-year-old is said to be making “excellent progress” in his recovery and should be ready to go by training camp with a fully repaired shoulder.
Dalvin Cook 2023 Fantasy Outlook
While Dalvin Cook is set to have a healthy season ahead of him, will it be in Minnesota? The running back is due $14 million in 2023, good for the third-largest running back contract. The Vikings also brought back Alexander Mattison on a $7 million contract, meaning they have some good capital invested into the position.
There were rumblings earlier this offseason of the Miami Dolphins attempting to acquire Cook prior to bringing back Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.
While Cook is by no means a lock to be on the Minnesota roster entering 2023, he should be selected near the Round 1/Round 2 turn this season regardless of where he is playing. He has shown no signs of slowing down his production and now will not have to play cautiously with his shoulder fully repaired.
The running back market is far from settling down with stars in the draft along with veterans like Leonard Fournette, Ezekiel Elliott, and Kareem Hunt still available via free agency. Austin Ekeler is also seeking a trade as of today. If Minnesota gets an offer that they can’t resist, we could see Cook on the move prior to the 2023 season.
