Is Dalvin Cook A Good Fit For The Jets? Fantasy Football Outlook

Dalvin Cook - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Is Dalvin Cook A Good Fit For The Jets? Did the Jets sign Dalvin Cook? Read the fantasy football outlook.

Veteran running back Dalvin Cook was the 41st overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The star running back had an outstanding college career, totaling 687 rushing attempts for 4,464 yards and 46 touchdowns at Florida State.

Unfortunately, his rookie season got ruined by a torn ACL. Cook had 74 rushing attempts for 354 yards and two touchdowns before getting hurt. The former Florida State star struggled with injuries in 2018, missing five contests. However, things turned around starting the following year.

Cook made the first pro bowl of his career in 2019, finishing the season with 250 rushing attempts for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns. More importantly, he totaled at least 1,100 rushing yards each of the past four seasons, including a career-high 1,557 yards three years ago.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

What Did Dalvin Cook Accomplish In 2022?

Last season the veteran had 264 rushing attempts for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. The former Florida State running back also had 39 receptions on 56 targets for 295 receiving yards and two touchdowns last year. More importantly, Cook didn’t miss a game last season for the first time in his career.

While the former Florida State star was the RB10 last season, averaging 12.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, Cook showed signs of decline. The veteran averaged 4.4 yards per rushing attempt, a career-low. Furthermore, he had 11.3% of his rushing attempts last season go for 10 or more yards. By comparison, 14.4% of Cook’s rushing attempts were for 10 or more yards the year before.

Is Dalvin Cook A Good Fit For The Jets?

Minnesota released the veteran running back several weeks ago. However, Cook was waiting for the right opportunity to come his way. Earlier today, the former Florida State star agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Jets worth up to $8.6 million.

Unfortunately, this is bad news for Breece Hall. The second-year star is coming off a torn ACL. He started training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. While there is a chance the former Iowa State star can come off the list this week, Cook’s arrival suggests the team is concerned with his health.

The Jets can leave Hall on the PUP list. However, if he is on the list come the roster cut-down date later this month, the second-year player must miss at least the first six weeks this season.

Meanwhile, Cook could have top-15 upside with Hall out of the lineup. However, it is only a matter of time before the former Iowa State star returns. Therefore, fantasy players should avoid this backfield if possible.
