Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz was the recipient of quite a bit of hype this offseason. With Amari Cooper leaving Dallas via trade, Schultz was expected to take advantage of the vacated targets.
Schultz had a solid opening performance, gathering seven catches for 62 yards. In Week 2, though, he made just two catches for 18 yards on four targets before going down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter.
Fantasy managers with Schultz are likely relying on him to be their TE1. Should these managers be concerned about his availability this week, or does it look like he'll suit up against the Giants?

Dalton Schultz Injury News
As mentioned above, Schultz was not having a very productive game against Cincinnati last Sunday before suffering a knee injury. After being targeted on a pass in the fourth quarter, Schultz stayed on the ground grabbing his right knee.

Fortunately, Schultz was able to get up and walk off under his own power and stayed suited up on the sideline. He appeared to be trying to re-enter the game, but he ultimately did not return to the contest.
Fantasy managers have a lot resting on Schultz's ability to play in Week 3 and remain concerned about the scene that unfolded before them. Is the fact he did not go into the medical tent a good sign?
Is Dalton Schultz Injured or Playing in Week 3?
The early reporting on Schultz's status was that the tight end has a PCL issue of unclear severity. That made his outlook for Week 3 hazy. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the team would "give him every chance to play this week," but also that it was uncertain if he'd be able to.
Told TE Dalton Schultz has a PCL issue in his right knee. That bothered Ezekiel Elliott last year. Unclear if Schultz could miss time at this point.

On Tuesday, we got more details. It is now rumored that Schultz is in fact unlikely to play this week. This is a big blow for the Cowboys, who were hoping to have both him and receiver Michael Gallup at their disposal on Sunday.

Things surely do not look promising for Schultz in the short term. Rookie tight end Jake Ferguson would be the one moving up the depth chart in the event of a Schultz absence. Ferguson, the 129th overall selection in this year's NFL Draft, has not yet received any targets this season.
In the unlikely event Schultz is active for this weekend's game, he would face a reasonably difficult matchup. Through two weeks, the New York Giants have surrendered just 5.7 half-PPR points per game to tight ends, ninth-fewest in the league.
Fantasy managers should prepare as though Schultz will miss at least one week. For some strong replacement options who may be on your league's waiver wire, check out RotoBaller's Week 3 Waiver Wire Rankings.
