Dak Prescott has been an integral part of the Dallas Cowboys offense since being drafted by the team in 2016. He entered 2022 coming off of an excellent campaign in which he set career-highs in both passing touchdowns and completion percentage.
This season did not start as he envisioned, though. Near the end of a 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay in Week 1, Prescott suffered a thumb injury. He exited the game and did not return. He has not played since then, either, with Cooper Rush serving as the starter under center during his absence.
Will Prescott be playing today? Should fantasy managers put him into their lineups? Below, this article will explore Prescott's injury status and outlook this week.

Is Dak Prescott Playing In Week 7 Against the Lions?
On Friday morning, Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy suggested that Prescott had a good chance to play this week versus Detroit. He claimed Prescott was trending in that direction.

Later that day, Dak's return was made official. He was removed from the injury report, meaning he is in line to start against the Lions.

Prescott's return means that Cooper Rush will return to his backup role. While Rush played well, winning four of his five starts, the goal was always to have Prescott take back over as soon as possible.
Should I Start Dak Prescott This Week in Fantasy Football?
Prescott will face a Detroit defense this week that is among the least formidable in the league. The Lions have yielded the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. They have also allowed the second-most net yards gained per pass attempt in the NFL. This is an excellent opportunity for Prescott to hit the ground running in his return.
Unlike in the game against the Buccaneers, Prescott will have his full group of weapons healthy and available. Michael Gallup came back in Week 4 from the ACL tear he suffered last season, and CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown, Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliott, and Tony Pollard will all be active as well.
Prescott is looking like a strong start this week given the above points. Unless you have another great option at quarterback (e.g. Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, etc.) to play instead, roll with Prescott against the Lions.
