Is Curtis Samuel A Good Fantasy Football Pickup For Week 6? Waiver Wire Outlook

Washington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel has been more involved on offense than people expected coming into the year. With wideouts Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson also on offense, Samuel went under the radar in fantasy drafts all offseason. 

But Samuel has been the surprise bright spot in the Commanders' offense over the past two weeks. The 27-year-old wideout saw at least seven targets from quarterback Sam Howell in consecutive games for the first time this year. 

So, is Samuel a good fantasy football pickup in Week 6? Let's dive in. 

What Did Curtis Samuel Do In Week 5? 

People might have forgotten what Samuel did in Week 5 because it happened on Thursday night. However, to put it short, the versatile wideout continued to be a weapon for the Commanders' offense. 

He caught six passes for 65 yards and one touchdown in the team's 40-20 loss last week. Howell connected with the wideout early in the fourth quarter for a three-yard score. Despite the defeat, Samuel went on to lead all Washington wide receivers in targets (7), catches, and receiving yards in the contest. 

Samuel continues to build a rapport with Howell in the passing game, and it's certainly paying off. After his solid Week 5 game, he is second on the team in catches (23) and receiving yards (243) and third in targets (27) through three games. 

Is Curtis Samuel A Good Fantasy Football Pickup For Week 6?

As we head into Week 6, the injuries continue to pile up for fantasy teams, and the start of bye weeks have begun. So, to fill those needs on your roster, Samuel is a solid pickup in 12-plus team PPR leagues. 

Samuel continues to be a part of this Commanders' offense, which likely won't change. He has at least six catches and 50 yards with one touchdown in back-to-back weeks and has averaged 18.3 PPR fantasy points per game during that span. The wideout also has three double-digit PPR fantasy performances through five weeks. 

Despite a quarterback change from 2022, we saw similar outputs from Samuel to begin last season. He averaged over 20 PPR points per game through the first two weeks of the year. The Commanders will use him in a lot of different ways on offense moving forward, making him a solid add for Week 6.
