Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson rose up the ranks very quickly after the 2022 Senior Bowl. After an inconsistent start to his rookie campaign, he caught fire and ended 2022 as the WR1 of a Packers team who were fighting for a playoff spot.
Watson looked poised to continue his success and be Jordan Love's top target in year two, but he was suspiciously absent from the team's practice on Wednesday and is currently listed as questionable. Here's what we know so far about his injury.

Is Christian Watson Playing In Week 1 Against the Bears?
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) was held out of practice on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. The same thing happened with his teammate and WR2 Romeo Doubs (hamstring).

When asked about the injuries to his top two wideouts, HC Matt LaFleur said: "We’ll give them the whole week and see where they’re at."
With him also saying: "The one thing about this league is nobody cares if you have injuries or youth. We will get our guys ready to go.” It surely doesn't sound optimistic that Watson will be 100% by gameday.
Should I Start Christian Watson In Week 1?
Typically, every player should be practicing before Week 1, and if they aren't, that usually means that they won't make it for gameday. That seems to be the case for Watson.
The Bears' pass defense was abysmal in 2022, as they allowed the most yards per pass attempt in the whole league (7.7). If Watson and Doubs can't make it, look for other options to replace him such as rookie receiver Jayden Reed. The speedy wideout is set to be the WR1 against Chicago with Watson and Doubs on the sidelines and could make some good plays against a poor Bears pass defense.
Christian Watson is a fantasy WR2 who has low-level WR1 potential, but for now, you'd be better off looking at other options due to all the uncertainty regarding his injury.
