San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (knee) has truly had one of the most cursed seasons in fantasy football this year. After missing eight games due to Achilles' tendonitis, he returned to play in Week 10, but didn't look like his usual self. He had some solid fantasy performances, though.
His statistical performance wasn't great, though. He's now averaged just over 4 yards per carry due to a few big runs in a snow game when the opposing team's linebackers weren't able to travel laterally properly. Then, he went down with a knee injury and was pulled from the game.
So will CMC play again this season or is it really over?

Is Christian McCaffrey Out For The Season?
For the fantasy season, yes. And the team isn't likely at all to make the playoffs, meaning that his season is likely over. He suffered an injury to his PCL, and he'll need around six weeks to recover. The chances of him returning for Week 17 seem astronomically low, and it may be better for fantasy managers if he doesn't.
Breaking: 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is headed to the IR with a six-week PCL injury, likely ending his season, Kyle Shanahan announced.

He'd be a tough player to start even if he did return, but it's likely we won't have to worry about that. For now, he'll look forward to 2025. Lost seasons are brutal for the player, his fantasy managers, and his fans alike, but the reality of the NFL is that injuries spare no one.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is known for rushing players back from injury, having his players play through serious ailments, and skirting NFL rules on injury reporting, but their season is probably over, and it makes no sense to risk one of their star's long-term health for some meaningless games.
Make sure you pick up RB Isaac Guerendo on waivers, if you can.
