New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is coming off his first big game of the 2024 season, catching all six of his targets for 86 yards and a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. It was a rough day for the Saints offense, but Olave made the most of it and led the team in receiving.
Olave didn't have a great year in 2023. Luckily for him, offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael was replaced with Klint Kubiak, and the Saints offense steamrolled their first two opponents. They didn't do as well against the Eagles, but there's much more hope for Saints receivers this year.
Unfortunately, Olave picked up an injury at practice. Will he play in Week 4? Let's break it all down.

Is Chris Olave Playing in Week 4?
UPDATE: Olave is ACTIVE for Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons
Olave suffered a hamstring injury in practice on Friday. Picking up a hammy just two days before a game is absolutely not a good thing. It's possible he could still play, but the hamstring issue would have to be very minor. Teams have been very cautious with players' hamstring issues this year.
Saints WR Chris Olave is considered, in the words of a source, “day to day” with the hamstring injury he suffered in today’s practice. https://t.co/bV94SrCTwJ

If it's truly a "day to day" injury, then it presumably must have been a mild tweak or pull, but we don't have complete information yet. Any time a player picks up a hamstring injury, though, fantasy managers should have backup plans in place.
Chris Olave Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook
Even if he plays, it's likely he'd be hampered by the hamstring injury. Fantasy managers don't have much choice but to start him, though, because he was universally drafted in the first four rounds of fantasy drafts. Depending on the severity of the injury, it's possible the Saints' offensive coaches could change or limit his usage.

Olave looked to just be hitting his stride, so his injury is a disappointing development. Another note of concern is the Saints' offensive line. Both center Erik McCoy and guard Cesar Ruiz will be out, which are big losses along the offensive line. Carr did not play well under pressure last game.
“Chris Olave is going to be wide open…. But unfortunately Derek Carr is under immediate pressure.”

It's possible we see a neutered version of the offense to try to avoid Carr's mistakes under pressure, or we see more pressure, and all Saints receivers have a tough time producing in fantasy. The Falcons improved their pass rush greatly with offseason acquisition defensive end Matthew Judon, so it could be tough for Carr on Sunday.
Regardless, if Olave plays, you should be starting him. It could be an ugly game for the Saints, though.
