We are once again providing another update on New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave (concussion), who hasn't played in a game since suffering a concussion in Week 9 of 2024. He was placed on injured reserve after that game, as he had a serious traumatic brain injury.
He was knocked out cold on the play, and it was his second concussion of the season, so the Saints correctly opted to hold him out of action for an extended period of time. It takes months for the brain to fully recover from a concussion, and clearing the NFL's concussion protocol sometimes takes players less than a week.
So will Olave be out for the season?

Is Chris Olave Out For The Season?
Technically, since New Orleans has been eliminated from playoff contention, if No. 12 misses just one more game, that will qualify him as being out for the rest of the year. And it seems unlikely (to us) that the Saints coaching staff will allow him to play in a meaningless game and risk him picking up another head injury.

But he had his practice window opened, logged full practices all last week, and was officially listed as "Questionable" for Week 17, before being ruled out. So it seems possible that he could play in the last game just to get some more reps in before 2025.
We don't really understand why they'd do this, but we can't say for sure that he won't play again this year. Being reasonable tells us that they should hold him out, but we're not in the coaching rooms. We wouldn't necessarily understand their motivation for having him play, especially with their starting quarterback, Derek Carr (hand), out for the season.
This will be another "wait and see" situation, unfortunately. For fantasy football purposes, though, you should be prepared to have someone else step in for him, as you hopefully have been the second half of the season.
